File this under “lets solve a problem nobody has….and lets do it elegantly!”
I am a fan of Tether Tools and use a couple of their products often. That being said, I received this promotional image from them yesterday demonstrating their new “Rock Solid” line of articulating arms, brackets and clamps for holding wireless receivers on the strobe head.
Are these guys serious?
So let me see if I understand what I’m being sold here to hold my Wizard: (1) Rock Solid articulating arm @ $58.95 + (1) Mini Pro Clamp @ $29.95 = $88.90 per receiver. Got to have at least five…don’t you think? OK..$444.50…and of course, lets not forget setting this thing up and tearing it down on set…lets be conservative @ 2 minutes per receiver? Thats 10 minutes at a standard assistant fee cost ($250/day) = $19/shoot. Weight and storage considerations? Who really cares at this point, if its black, shiny and looks cool…lets protect it and schlep everywhere.
Of course, there is the included wrist strap or velcro that comes with most receivers….Cost = nothing as…. it comes with the receiver. Time to hang from a stand and put away = 10 seconds.
I don’t get it.
